Every Philadelphia Eagles fan will say the same thing: the wide net the team is casting for the offensive coordinator search might now be too wide.
CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz shared that the Eagles have interviewed Green Bay Packers quarterback coach Sean Mannion. Many football fans know Mannion as a long-time backup quarterback in the NFL from 2015 through 2023, throwing for 573 yards and one touchdown against three interceptions.
Mannion began his coaching career in 2024 as an offensive assistant with the Packers. He was promoted to quarterback coach in 2025.
Eagles really letting anyone interview for the OC job
There's one thing: bringing in an offensive coordinator with no play-calling experience, as at least they have worked with offenses, but bringing in a coach with two years of experience who has never been an offensive coordinator? This isn't adding up.
Philly has not really handled this offensive coordinator search the way fans hoped it would. Nobody seems to be lining up for the job, and the Eagles have seen countless candidates withdraw their names from consideration.
For the team to be turning to candidates who have barely coached for two years for the most important job on the team, it's not looking good. This is a bad look, no matter how the Eagles want to spin it to the public.
The longer this search takes and the more candidates they bring in, the worse it is going to get for the Eagles. Fans are now growing impatient and upset that none of the marquee candidates are in the running for a job that should be considered one of the best in the league.

Nick Sirianni and company have a lot of work to do to regain the trust of the fan base, so if they can hire someone like Kliff Kingsbury or Joe Brady, that might do it. If they bring in someone like Mannion, that is going to be a whole different story that no one wants to read.
