The Philadelphia Eagles are making it known throughout the draft process that they might be looking at adding another young cornerback to the roster.

They have met with several cornerbacks over the last few months, with another added to the list. Cal cornerback Brent Austin told NFL Draft On SI's Justin Melo that the Eagles are one of the many teams he has met with.

"I’ve met with a few teams. I’ve been in contact with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Chargers, to name a few. I also met with all 32 teams at the East-West Shrine Bowl."

Eagles have met with Cal cornerback Brent Austin

Last season at Cal, Austin was selected as a All-ACC Third Team by the conference and Phil Steele. He finished the year with 42 tackles, 13 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Austin plays similarly to Quinyon Mitchell in the fact that he does not get a lot of interceptions, but is tight in his coverage and can still make a play on the ball even it is not catchable for him. In his four years in college, Austin only had three interceptions, but racked up 23 pass deflections in just the last two years combined.

If Austin was brought on to Philly, he would be facing tough competition as he may not play right away. Riq Woolen will most likely be the CB2 and of course Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are locks to start at corner for the Eagles.

It would be a great spot for Austin, though, to learn from two of the best cornerbacks in the NFL without the pressure of having to start. The Eagles could have another great shutdown corner on their team in two weeks.
