Eagles won't be sweating whoever they must face in Philly for 2026 home opener

They got this in the bag.

Philadelphia Eagles fans have been spoiled over the years with how good their football team is to the point that an 11-6 season last year is actually considered a down year for them.

One of the reasons the Eagles have been so good over the last five years is that they typically get off to fast starts. The 2021 season (Nick Sirianni's first year as Eagles head coach) is the only year in the last five in which the Eagles started 1-3 or worse.

That shows the kind of success the Eagles have had as they are typically very good at home to start a year. Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis shared the records of every NFL team in their home openers over the last 10 years, as the Eagles were tied for the second-best record at 8-2.

Eagles have a massive advantage at home to start the 2026 season

So far, only two games are known to be on the Eagles' 2026 schedule. They will face the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, and before that, the Eagles will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in October, with a game in London.

Nothing is known yet about who the Eagles could face to start the 2026 season, but the fans in Philly won't really care. The Eagles have been so good at home over the years that they have a massive advantage no matter what.

What has helped the Eagles over the years is that they are a well-coached, disciplined team that feeds off the energy of the crowd in Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles are 37-20-1 overall at home since 2019, the fifth-best record in the NFL.

The NFL can do whatever it wants with the schedule for 2026, but one thing is for sure: the Eagles will have a strong chance of winning their home opener.
