Eagles yet again lose defensive player in free agency (but this one won't hurt)

It's going to be okay.

Depth on the Philadelphia Eagles' defense is starting to look a bit thin as they continue to lose players in free agency, with none of them really getting replaced yet.

At edge rusher, the Eagles have lost Jaelan Phillips to the Carolina Panthers and Joshua Uche to the Miami Dolphins. Well, now the Eagles can add a third name to that as NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports that the Atlanta Falcons are signing edge rusher Azeez Ojulari.

Last season, Ojulari signed a one-year deal with the Eagles, but would only play three games due to injury and being inactive for most of the season. He finished with six tackles, one tackle for loss, and one quarterback hit.

This is not going to be a loss that is felt by the Eagles fan base. In fact, Ojulari's signing in the first place was a big disappointment after having 22 sacks in the first four years with the New York Giants, including a career-high eight sacks in his rookie season.

Really, outside of the Denver Broncos game last season, where he had his quarterback hit, Ojulari was a non-factor on defense. He played just 32% of the defensive snaps that he was active in.

Part of his problem is that he never seemed to be on good terms with the Eagles' defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio. Ojulari also wasn't great on special teams, which affected his playing time and led to multiple weeks of inactivity.

Philly will be in good hands even without Ojulari in the lineup, but it doesn't help that two backup edge rushers are no longer on the team. Adding in Phillips on another team and Brandon Graham, a free agent, there are some concerns with the Eagles and not having enough edge rushers at the moment.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will have to make sure he takes care of that and helps out through free agency or the draft.
