5 bold predictions for the Eagles in Week 4 against Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The defense carried the Eagles in Week 3. This time, it's the offense's turn to do the same thing.

Things can't continue as they are. No, seriously... No one was more excited about the new Philadelphia Eagles season than we were. It's only been three weeks and we're bordering on being emotional wrecks.

The Brazil trip led to a nail-biter. That one came down to the final possession. That was a treat for NFL fans. For us, not so much.

Two more games followed, and with them, came more stress. The collapse on Monday Night Football bordered on being depressing. Last week... Well... You all saw what happened last week.

Philly did their best to lose in New Orleans and, somehow, won the game anyway. Did we mention we can't take too many more of those?

Oh, we'll watch the next game! You're darn right we will. There's no way we'll miss any Eagles games, but we'd rather this next one not be stressful. And, you know what? We don't think it will be.

Dallas Goedert again leads the Eagles in receptions and receiving yards.

We don't know if this will occur out of necessity. We don't know if this will happen because Philly has rediscovered Dallas Goedert can play. We hope another huge day from Goedert is coming.

We also know the Eagles potentially enter this game without their top three wide receivers. That means Goedert may see a few double-teams.

Goedert will answer the bell as he did last week. He'll see opportunities and make the most of them, but Jalen Hurts has built chemistry with Parris Campbell. He and Jahan Dotson might play a role here (hopefully).

Saquon Barkley scores two more touchdowns.

Philly has spammed Saquon Barkley in the offensive attack. They have done so out of necessity. A.J. Brown has missed two weeks of action. DeVonta Smith exited last week's game with a concussion.

You wonder about whether there's fear of wearing the star tailback down. He has already carried the ball 63 times, but caution might take a backseat here with so many Eagles injuries.

Saquon scored two touchdowns in Week 1 AND Week 3. In a road game, we expect he'll be relied upon. He reaches the end zone in this one twice. Hey, Philly may as well ride the hot hand.

The Eagles sack Baker Mayfield five times.

Nick Sirianni has told you this a time or two, and he's right. Sometimes, sacks come in waves. Philly hasn't registered many, four in three weeks. Zack Baun nabbed the first two. Milton Williams and Jordan Davis have authored the other two.

Baker Mayfield isn't a statue by any means, but in three previous meetings (one versus the Cleveland Browns and two versus Tampa), Philly has sacked him nine times. That includes four during last season's Wild Card Game.

He was sacked seven times in Week 3 by the Denver Broncos. Maybe this is the game that gets the Eagles' pass rush going.

Quinyon Mitchell finally earns his first interception.

Quinyon Mitchell seemingly comes within inches of grabbing an interception every week. This has been going on since the preseason. Last week, he was dangerously close to snatching a pick-six versus the Saints, but again, the ball fell harmlessly to the turf.

They say cornerbacks are 'wide receivers who can't catch and wind up playing defense'. Maybe that's true to some extent. Quinyon only snared six picks in 46 career NCAA games (and, five came during the 2022 college football season).

But, this is Quinyon's world. The rest of us are just living in it. He'll get that elusive pick this week. You wait and see! It's going to come in a big moment!

The Eagles win this one by double digits.

For whatever reason, we don't experience the same level of anxiety about facing the Buccaneers during the regular season as we do when Philly has to meet them during the postseason. Maybe we should rethink that though.

Tampa has taken five of the last six meetings. That includes two losses by our Birds at home, three losses at Raymond James Stadium, and two postseason losses in the last three meetings.

Philly won by two TDs in 2023, and we think this game follows a familiar script. Baker Mayfield will move the Bucs offense, but Tampa won't score a lot of points. Meanwhile, a banged-up Eagles offense relies on young guys and reserves but manages to get the ball in the end zone a few times.

Yes... The Eagles win by ten points or more on the road. Write it down. Remember by Sunday evening that we were the first ones to tell you this. Honestly, this should be an easy ask if Philly takes care of the football and doesn't turn the ball over.
