Team captain Darius Slay has enjoyed a great career so far. Trust us. We were already well aware, but he made sure to send a now-deleted tweet to remind us. When he looks back on a career that seemingly will exceed a dozen years long, the week following a Philadelphia Eagles loss in Tampa will be one he'll want to forget.

The aforementioned tweet followed some flack he received for an off-game. He gave up a TD pass during the contest, but the final score is what we'll most remember from a wasted Sunday afternoon.

Well... We'll remember the final score, the tweet, and his appearance on Micah Parsons podcast. As you might imagine, Birds fans, former Eagles, and media members saw it as a bad look.

Darius Slay apologizes to Eagles fans, but some question the veteran corner's sincerity.

Some might call this an overblown discussion. You won't have any issues finding co-signers and disagreement. There's the Eagles vs. Cowboys rivalry angle playing into this among other things.

Philly just lost a tough game for Heaven's sake. Then, there was the back and forth between Parsons and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Yeah... Showing up on MIcah's pod might be seen as a little ill-timed. Slay has since apologized, but it doesn't seem like it matters much.

Okay, so... Sorry, not sorry? We're confused.

Slay offered another explanation on his podcast because, naturally, we had to get a few clicks out of this, right? Here's his explanation.

“I feel as [if] a lot of Eagles fans are very, very upset about me on the podcast with Micah Parsons. To be honest, I’ve been knowing Micah way before he became a Dallas Cowboy. We trained together when he was coming out as a young guy. We grew a great relationship. When we played the Dallas Cowboys either here or home, we both use each other’s tickets. His family sits by my family, my family sits by his family at his games. We have a great relationship, but I do understand the conflict as with the Eagles and the Cowboys. It’s real beef. It’s real, real beef, and I’m not like a real controversial type of person. I’m kind of cool with everybody. I know y’all don’t like that, I know ya’ll don’t like that because that’s not the Philly style, but that's how I was raised. I treat people how I want to be treated."

Okay, so, he isn't sorry?

On the topic of C.J. G.J. entering the conversation, the man formerly known as 'Big Play' had the following to say.

“Chauncey is my dude. He’s a great player, great everything. I don’t know why people just took the first 10 seconds of me just smiling and giggling. If he took it personally, I would have told him, ‘Hey, I apologize if I smiled and laughed and you felt any type of offended way about it.’ I would have apologized to him as a man."

Oh, don't worry. It gets better...

"But, from my standpoint, I’m really just a laughing type of guy. I smile all day. Ain’t too much stuff I take serious because the fact that I’m a blessed young man that’s doing a job that he loves to do and having fun. I take my job serious for sure, I like to win. I like to compete at a very high level. But I do enjoy playing this game and I do, do it with a smile on my face. Because I could be doing something totally different in the world but I’m really out here doing something I love to do. I smile at work. That’s what it is."

Oh, there's more, but honestly, we've grown weary of this entire conversation. Maybe the best solution to this is moving on and focusing on football again. If you'd like to listen to his podcast in full, listen below.
