Eagles continued success with the Brotherly Shove continues to birth new haters, and we love it
Before another word is uttered, or, in this case, typed, let's get something out of the way. The Philadelphia Eagles and the City of Brotherly Love's media agree. Birds fans all over the Delaware Valley and everywhere else on Planet Earth all share a similar thought process. We don't really care about everyone's theories about the Brotherly Shove. Period...
We have moved on. You should too. This is the last time we will address this.
You guys are going to give yourselves headaches. We have moved on. If you're angry, that's your problem.
Philly's Brotherly Shove helps 'push' the Eagles to a 9-1 on the 2023 NFL season.
The NFL doesn't do a very good job of tracking Brotherly Shove stats, but here's the skinny. Before Week 11, the Eagles had converted 19 of 24 quarterback sneak attempts into first downs or points. No other NFL team had converted more than 11 QB-sneak attempts into first downs.
Ed Werder reports "Jalen Hurts now has 14 rushing TDs on the Brotherly Shove during the last two seasons including the playoffs" and that "no other QB has more than two Rush TD on those plays during that time".
The hits kept coming on Monday Night Football.
Philly's mastery of the game's most unstoppable play led to more drive-extending first downs AND the game's go-ahead touchdown after a beautiful rainbow from Jalen Hurts found DeVonta Smith at the Kansas City Chiefs one-yard line. There wasn't anyone that didn't know what was coming next.
Just watch. Appreciate the beauty.
Okay, here's the thing. As you might imagine, the Brotherly Shove continues to be a topic of conversation. The feedback has been constant and mostly negative from those who cheer for or follow other teams.
We have made an executive decision and have determined that we weren't going to give any of the haters any air time. Here's where we will leave this though. Let's settle this once and for all.
League offices performed an investigation for some reason this past offseason. We never figured out the real reasons why that was the case. Once they finished doing whatever it was that they were doing, however, they determined that everything Philly was doing was legal.
So, we're good this way. We just think it's funny that you aren't. Just when we thought we were out, however, you guys keep pulling us back in! Here's some free advice though.
The Birds are 9-1. The Brotherly Shove helped them get there. We think it's hilarious that those of you who are still bothered by this are angry. If everyone could do it, they would do it. No one likes us. We don't care.
And, with that, we move along to the Buffalo Bills!
