The Philadelphia Eagles made several great additions in free agency over the offseason, but one player in particular is really looking like a steal during training camp so far, according to Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report.

Devin White could end up being a bargain

The outlet recently included linebacker Devin White on a list of eight players who look like free agent steals during training camp. White signed a one-year, $4 million dollar deal with Philadelphia, and he's currently competing for a starting spot at linebacker. He recorded two tackles in the team's preseason-opening win over the Baltimore Ravens.

White comes in at a position of need for Philadelphia, and he's a decorated player at that position. White was named Second-Team All-Pro in 2020 and he made the Pro Bowl in 2021. He also helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV. He's coming off a bit of a down season, sure, but he's still just 26 years old and should have a lot of gas left in the tank. As a result, he's a welcome addition to Philadelphia's defense, especially at the price point they got him at.

From Bleacher Report:

"Based on his five-season performance and recent contract dispute with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Devin White's one-year, $4 million deal looks like an absolute steal. ... White has had some lapses in pass coverage, but when he's focused and going downhill, the veteran linebacker is a disruptive force on run downs and in the pass rush."

Things didn't end well for White in Tampa Bay. That's no secret. But a fresh start can often be beneficial, and that could prove to be the case for White in Philadelphia. After all, he fills a need for the Eagles as a versatile linebacker capable of getting into the backfield and blowing up plays. White has compiled 64 quarterback hits, 40 tackles for a loss and 23 sacks over the course of his career.

On the flip side, playing on a high-profile team like the Eagles could help to recharge White's career. The relationship could prove to be a mutually beneficial one. White recently revealed that he took less money than he could have made elsewhere to sign with the Birds.

“I took less, because I felt it was a better situation,” White said. “That lets you know it ain’t about the money. It ain’t ever been about the money. It’s about being in the right situation, the right environment. and being able to have fun.”

Time will tell if Philadelphia ultimately proves to be the right situation for White, but the early returns are promising.
