Eagles rooting guide: 5 teams that can help Philly's playoff push in Week 13

We'll be watching four more games in addition to the Eagles Week 13 clash with the 49ers. How about you?

The Philadelphia Eagles, with some hard work and impressive wins, have given themselves some wiggle room in the National Football Conference. With ten triumphs in 11 games, they would have been the top-seeded team if the postseason had begun after Week 12's victory over the Buffalo Bills.

As great as that sounds, there's just one issue. Six games are remaining on the schedule, including Week 13's game versus the San Francisco 49ers. A loss to the 'Whiners' wouldn't change Philly's standing as the conference's top-seeded team. It would, however, make things a little tighter.

An Eagles misstep means they'd own two losses like the Dallas Cowboys. That means next week's game in Arlington would be one to determine first place in the NFC East. It would also mean San Fran would be the owners of a tiebreaker if they and the Birds closed the campaign with identical records.

Make no mistake. This is a big game for Philadelphia for all of those reasons and another. It would be a nice step towards earning a postseason berth, but if they were to do so in Week 13, they'll need some help from outside parties.

Here's you Week 13 rooting guide. Hope for an Eagles win and losses by a few other NFC teams.

1. Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams play the Cleveland Browns at the same time the Eagles and 49ers will be duking it out. Keep one eye on L.A. though. If they lose and the Eagles win, Philly punches their ticket for postseason play.

Philly can also get in with a win, a Rams loss, and a Packers loss or tie coupled with a Saints loss or tie.

If that doesn't happen Philly can also get in with a win, a Rams loss, and a Packers loss or tie coupled with a Falcons loss or tie.

2. Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions duke it out with the New Orleans Saints in Week 13 (more on the Saints later). A Lions loss coupled with an Eagles win AND a Packers loss or tie sends Philly to the postseason. Believe it or not, a Saints loss also helps.

3. New Orleans Saints

Yep! The Eagles are aided regardless of who wins the Lions vs. Saints game. However, if the Saints lose or tie, Philly also needs a Rams loss and a Packers loss or tie.

4. Green Bay Packers

This one's a little less complicated. If the Eagles win and the Lions lose, a Packers loss or tie gets Philly in.

5. Atlanta Falcons

Welcome to the Falcons' portion of our story. They battle the New York Jets on the road. If Atlanta loses or ties, an Eagles win, a Rams loss, and a Packers loss or tie guarantees the Eagles a playoff spot.

Is your head spinning? Don't worry. You are not alone. Let's simplify this some. First things first. The Eagles must take care of business versus the 49ers. All of this is a moot point for at least another week if they don't handle their own business.
