Eagles schedule Top-30 visit with the 2024 NFL Draft's best inside linebacker
As waves of the free agency frenzy pass, Philadelphia Eagles fans and media members have rediscovered feelings we haven't had in a while, feelings like adrenaline and expectation. Howie Roseman's start to the new league year has been mind-blowing. There aren't many needs the Birds had that their general manager didn't address, and now we look ahead to what comes next.
As the first half of March trickles away, the splash signings will probably settle down, especially after Philly has added Devin White AND reportedly agreed to a contract restructure with Josh Sweat. The latter move keeps Number 94 in the City of Brotherly Love.
With that, we move on to March's back half. That means we'll have plenty of college football to watch and tons of mock drafts to read. Get ready. Top-30 visits and the coming NFL Draft will be a huge discussion. Guess who's being flown in for a visit.
The Eagles are hosting the 2024 NFL Draft's top inside linebacker prospect.
We never felt like Andy Reid was a huge fan of linebackers. It never felt like Jim Schwartz liked them either. We've seemingly discussed Howie Roseman's perceived disdain for the position ad nauseam. As a matter of fact, we believe Howie's theories about roster building came from Andy.
Vic Fangio is believed to be more of a fan of the position, especially seeing how his scheme can be heavy on the 3-4 look. Howie has found a couple this offseason in the form of Zack Baun and Devin White.
Position groups can sometimes, however, be as strong or weak as the weakest link in the chain. We believe in Nakobe Dean, but we understand that some of you don't. Regardless of how he turns out, it's always wise to restock the cupboard, and our Birds are keeping their options open.
Thanks to Bleacher Report's Ryan Fowler, we know Philly is reportedly hosting former Texas A&M Aggie Edgerrin Cooper on a Top-30 visit, and if we're being honest, we wouldn't be angry if Philly used first-round capital to select him. That would be a huge 'if' seeing as how Philly hasn't taken a true linebacker in 45 years (Nolan Smith doesn't count).

Cooper is the real deal. He's the best interior linebacker in this class. He isn't the best coverage linebacker you'll see, but he's a mistle that always seems to find his way to the ball carrier. In 37 games that spanned four NCAA seasons, he tallied 205 tackles (30.5 resulted in a loss of yardage). Add that to 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, and eight pass breakups.
Philly will host more top-30 visits, so take this with a grain of salt. While this does mean there's some interest in Cooper, for the Eagles right now, this is all there is.
