Important decisions the Philadelphia Eagles must make sooner rather than later

Time's a ticking, and some decisions must be made now.

Jason Kelce needs to make a decision, but Jason Kelce knows that.

Well, we couldn't discuss the Eagles offseason without mentioning Jason Kelce, right? Here we are again enjoying what's become a yearly discussion. We're again waiting on the biggest decision since LeBron James took his talents to South Beach.

Okay, maybe it isn't that big (don't tell Philly sports fans we said that). Still, you can see where we are coming from. Jason has earned the right to take his time while making a decision, but the faster he does so, the better.

He'll be back if he wants to play. Philly just needs to know if he wants to play. Knowing where he stands plays a huge part in how the Birds move forward. Jason Kelce is a smart guy though. He knows that. He won't place his team in a bad spot.

Is it time to extend DeVonta Smith, or do the Eagles exercise his fifth-year option?

DeVonta Smith's name is another we must mention during those discussions about extensions. It's a no-brainer that he'll factor into Philly's long-term plans. Something must be mentioned though.

Unlike fellow 2021 Eagles draftees like Landon Dickerson, Milton Williams, Zech McPhearson, Marlon Tuipulotu, and Patrick Johnson, Skinny Batman has a fifth-year option worked into his rookie deal. We fully expect them to exercise said option, but Philly's leadership structure may want to think ahead.

They have long signed guys early to avoid the higher price tag that comes from paying them too late. DeVonta is too good and too talented to ignore for too much longer. The Birds certainly can't let him get out of the door.
