It's still hard to believe John Ross is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Maybe it was meant to be. He's a Long Beach, California product but grew up a Birds fan. He also entered the league in 2017, during an NFL Draft hosted in the City of Brotherly Love. You can't make this stuff up.

Fast forward to the present. Seven years have passed.

John's son is seven years old and his dad's biggest fan, He's also a Ravens fan. We'll work on that, but according to the former first-rounder, he has given him the added motivation to push forward.

It appears that motivation has also given him a turbo boost, literally.

Attention NFL: John Ross says he's faster than the last time we saw him.

Ross says he is different in many ways. That's to be expected. Often, new ideas and theories come with maturity.

We expected he would have regretted the decision to retire early. Heck, we expected he'd say he's older and wiser, but if we're being honest, we weren't expecting to hear one change he mentioned, not seven years after he first retired.

As Kerr mentions here, you do realize Ross's 4.22-second 40-yard dash time at the 2017 NFL Combine was a record, right? That record stood for seven years. It was recently broken by Xavier Worthy. And, John Ross says he's faster now? Who gets faster as they get older?

Here's the thing though. Nothing in Ross's body language or tone suggests he doesn't believe what he is saying. We'll see if he's correct, but perhaps the most interesting part here is that is more proof that his mental approach to the game has changed. He'll need that.

Ross isn't guaranteed anything. He comes to Philly following a rookie minicamp tryout. It's fair to state that he may not have been added had DeVante Parker not retired.

He'll be staring up at a few guys on the depth chart, but he believes he's right where he needs to be. Here's our question. What if he's right?

Enjoy the show! We're expecting one. Watch his full presser from OTAs below.
