NFL Week 9 Byes: Eagles extended rival and three other teams are off this week
November sure arrived in a hurry, didn't it? It's always bittersweet when we arrive at this juncture of the calendar year. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day are all coming. We also know that the holiday season means that we'll be forced to spend our money on things that we'd rather not. There's also an NFL angle.
The season is in full swing. We absolutely love this time of year, but we also know the season is half over. Dang... Didn't it just start?
Oh well... All we can do is live in the moment. The Philadelphia Eagles are 7-1 ahead of Week 9's action, and they have a big game on Sunday. Four of pro football's teams are off.
An Eagles extended rival, the 49ers, and three other NFL teams all enjoy byes in Week 9.
Say the names, and hype machines are unneeded. The Philadelphia Eagles tackle the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Four NFL franchises are off. One is an extended rival of sorts.
- San Francisco 49ers (5-3)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2)
- Detroit Lions (6-2)
- Denver Broncos (3-5)
Once Philly's Week 9 affair wraps, they'll enjoy a bye in Week 10. We can dig it. This team has battled injuries all year, and it will be nice to see them have a chance to let those bodies heal. They'll need the rest.
The Eagles face the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and the aforementioned 49ers from Week 11 to Week 13. They face the Cowboys again and the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 and Week 15 respectively. Talk about tough sledding!
Buckle up. The gauntlet approaches. Then, we have three weeks of stretch-run football to enjoy. Fingers are crossed that the Birds finish strong and on a high note. Another Super Bowl berth is certainly within reach.
