Philadelphia Eagles announce their kelly green jersey reveal is scheduled for July 31st
Okay, now we're getting somewhere! It has been a relatively quiet Thursday. The Philadelphia Eagles, as always, are working. There just weren't any major announcements. That is until much of the East Coast took its lunch break, and the best social media team in the entire NFL dropped a jewel on us at about 1 pm EST.
Take a look. Pay close attention to the color and the team logo on the shoulder.
Eagles fans everywhere are enjoying feelings of nostalgia.
If you're a little older, right now, you're no doubt thinking of days when Randall Cunningham soared over defenders for six points and games where Buddy Ryan's defense made guys on the opposing team feel like they didn't want to play football anymore. Trust us. We're right there with you.
The Birds have gone with the kelly green look before from time to time, Week 10 of the 2010 NFL season for instance, but that ensemble more closely resembled the look worn by the 1960 NFL Championship-winning squad, a team the 2010 Birds were honoring in their regular-season opener.
No one will know if we're correct about this until it happens, but the hope/theory of most members of the NFL's most loyal fan base is that this new alternate jersey will more closely resemble the kelly green on silver pants color coordination that the Eagles wore from 1987 through the 1995 campaign before current Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie's regime introduced the current midnight green home jerseys prior to the 1996 NFL season.
The speculation is almost at its end. We'll have an answer on the coming Monday.
