The 4th of July is firmly in our rearview mirror now. We're at the month's midpoint. That means another Philadelphia Eagles training camp draws nearer. Veterans and rookies both report on July 23.

Every team carries the one practice at a time, one week at a time, and one game at a time approach. It's still, however, impossible to avoid looking too far ahead. We aren't telling you something we haven't learned from experience. This way, we're hoping for a February trip to New Orleans.

At last look, DraftKings favored the Birds in 13 of their 17 regular-season games. If you'll remember, that's the same number we came up with.

Pro Football Focus, though generous has come up with a different number. If they're right, the race for the NFC East's crown will again come down to its two best teams.

PFF projects the Eagles and Cowboys to both win 10.5 games.

Mason Cameron of PFF's betting division recently released projected win totals for all 32 teams. The AFC and NFC representatives from last year's Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, are projected to win 11.5 games. They're followed by six teams projected to win 10.5. Two play in the NFC East, Philly and Dallas.

The other four teams with projected win totals of 10.5 games are the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions. We'll see how things go, but in the meantime, Philly is expected to keep a two-decades-long streak going.

Stop us if you have heard this before, but there hasn't been a repeat winner in the NFC East since the Eagles won four straight division titles from 2001-2004. Dallas won the title last year thanks to Philadelphia's collapse. but the Birds have reloaded and have added two coordinators.

Let's hope that leads to the NFC East's crown this season. That's a reasonable ask, but as PFF suggests, don't be shocked if its a close race.
