It has been a long season for Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, but he finally got to show off what he's been waiting to do all year long with his best game in the 38-20 win over the New York Giants in Week 8.
Barkley got off to a fast start with a 65-yard touchdown run on the very first run of the game. He continued that success with a touchdown catch in the second quarter.
At the end of the game, Barkley finished with 14 carries for 150 yards and one touchdown, adding four receptions for 24 yards and one touchdown in the win. It was by far the best game of the year for Barkley, as it was his first 100-yard game of 2025.
He did leave the game early with a groin injury, but it isn't believed to be anything serious and should be okay to play against the Green Bay Packers after the bye week.
Barkley talks about how the running game got going for the Eagles
After the game, Barkley talked with the media in front of his locker as they discussed the long 65-yard touchdown. For Barkley, it was a feeling he had been waiting for almost two months.
"Felt great. O-line did a great job there. They did a great job getting to the second level. I was able to use my speed on that one. It's important to start the game off fast and it doesn't really get any faster than that besides the play before so I felt like that was a key."
One aspect of the running game that was not expected was the emergence of backup Tank Bigsby, who came to the Eagles via trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars after Week 1. Originally seen as a special teams returner, Bigsby exploded for nine carries for 104 yards and played a critical role in getting the Eagles' running game going, continuing the momentum after Barkley's injury.
Barkley gave credit to the offensive line for stepping up in a big way and shouted out his backup running back for his play.
"I think the o-line did a really good job of dominating up front, creating space for us. It's cool to see Tank get out there and make some big plays. I've never been part of a game of two 100-yard backs so it was great to see him go out there and make plays, especially see him finish the game for us."

It was a trumphiant performance for the offense that was desparately needed for the Eagles. Now, Barkley and company enter the bye week feeling much better about the running game.
