This offseason was filled with changes within the Philadelphia Eagles' coaching staff, but the one that has the most attention and concern is at the offensive line, with Chris Kuper taking over for Jeff Stoutland after 13 years.

Kuper comes from the Minnesota Vikings, where he was not retained after the season, leaving some fans to wonder whether he was the right man. New Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion spoke to the media for the first time, sharing insights into what makes Kuper a great NFL coach.

“I first was with Chris as a player when he was in Minnesota, and you could just tell he’s a great teacher, detailed," Mannion said via Eagles Wire's Geoffrey Knox. "Obviously has a very unique background, having played for a long time in the NFL. I think the way he's going to be able to connect with all of our players, especially a veteran group of guys with our group specifically, it's going to be a great fit for us."

Kuper will have an interesting job handling an Eagles offensive line that is starting to show its age and wear and tear. Starting right tackle Lane Johnson and starting left guard Landon Dickerson both almost retired after injuries in 2025, and starting center Cam Jurgens has also dealt with injuries since 2024.

There is also the question about starting right guard Tyler Steen and whether he is the right man for the job. Many have called for Mekhi Becton to be brought back from free agency and take over his old position.

That'll be Kuper's job to ensure this offensive line in Philly is in the right place. During the press conference, Mannion reinforced his belief that Kuper is the right man to get the job done.

"I really feel great about our group collectively because it's people who know how to teach, are detailed, they work hard, and they're great high-character people," Kuper said via Eagles Wire. "That's exactly who you want to work with on a daily basis. Kup certainly is the embodiment of that.”

Eagles fans are hoping this will work out, as Kuper has massive shoes to fill after Stoutland, so no one envies the position he is in going into what will be a crucial 2026 season for everyone.
