It's been a whirlwind last 16-ish hours for the Philadelphia Eagles franchise, and not in a good way. All-World right tackle Lane Johnson took to social media on Tuesday and announced his retirement from football, and on Wednesday afternoon, General Manager Howie Roseman swung a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, sending Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to the team for a second- and fifth-round pick in the next two NFL Drafts.
All of a sudden, the Eagles' once-dominant offensive line is now anything but, and it now feels like we could be approaching a major transition for the franchise. Even at full strength, the Eagles did not do anything particularly well, which is a death sentence in the NFL.
In keeping with the offensive line, you almost have to wonder if Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson is now on notice for multiple reasons...?
Could the Philadelphia Eagles continue the offensive line shuffling?
Here are the details of the trade from Adam Schefter of ESPN:
Trade: Eagles are sending two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for a 2027 5th-round pick and a 2028 2nd-round pick, sources tell ESPN. pic.twitter.com/AaGL3MYqS7

With Johnson retired and Jurgens traded, Dickerson could come under the spotlight next. The three-time Pro Bowl guard played in 15 games in 2025, but it was quite obvious that Dickerson was playing hurt. He had made the Pro Bowl the three seasons prior and also had a solid rookie season.
Still only in his age-28 season, Dickerson is on injured reserve right now with a knee injury that he suffered during training camp, and it really feels like Dickerson just has not been himself since the 2024 season, seeing as he was hurt throughout 2025.
He still has youth on his side and can still be among the best guards in the NFL, but one way or another, Dickerson could have some pressure to perform now. If the Eagles don't plan on trading Dickerson and want him as part of their long-term future along the offensive line, getting on the field and remaining healthy is the key here.
Sure, that's easy for me to say as someone who is just typing words, but the best ability is availability. His potentially getting back onto the field for the Eagles would at least give Jalen Hurts and the rest of the offense some stable familiarity that they desperately need.
Or, the flip side here is Roseman swinging a deal to trade Dickerson. Contractually, he is tradeable, and if he is also trending toward being healthy, the overall shortage of quality offensive line play would surely have a team calling for his services.
With Jurgens now gone, the possibility of Dickerson being traded has to naturally rise, as Roseman might now see the brutal reality that a bit of a rebuild is needed, and Dickerson could fetch a shiny NFL Draft pick, and his contract would also be off the books.

One way or another, Dickerson is on notice.
