The day has arrived as the New England Patriots are set to play the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, but Philadelphia Eagles fans are going to be hit harder than any other fan base.
This will be a battle of two of the best teams in the NFL, with multiple storylines to follow, from two starting quarterbacks trying to win their first Super Bowl to coaches in their first or second year with their teams looking to capture the title. There is no predicting what the outcome of this game will be.
One outcome that is certain is that Eagles fans will have to witness the end of their team's run at repeating as Super Bowl champions. The days of calling themselves "reigning Super Bowl champions" are over.
Eagles fans must end the run of calling themselves Super Bowl champions, but it wasn't all great
There was so much hope at the beginning of the 2025 season as the team was coming off a 14-3 record and making an incredible run in the 2024 playoffs. The Eagles had beaten three of their four opponents by 10 or more points in the postseason, including a 40-22 blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. They went from starting the year 2-2 to winning it all in the Super Bowl with a record year from running back Saquon Barkley.
Philly's top storyline of the 2025 season was how bad the offense was as they finished in the bottom 15 in every major category under new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo after the departure of Kellen Moore to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. As for the defense, Graham's return from retirement and the trade for Jaelan Phillips turned the unit around, returning it to dominant form.
The Eagles finished the season with a respectable 11-6 record and won the NFC East. Their season would end too early with a 23-19 NFC Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
This was a season filled with so much drama, with it mostly coming from wide receiver A.J. Brown with his cryptic tweets and asking to be traded from the team multiple times behind closed doors. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was also the subject of some drama, with reports that teammates were unhappy with him and his refusal to run QB-designed runs. There was even a Positivity Rabbit that appeared for one week and then disappeared without a trace.
Now that the offseason has begun, the drama hasn't ended: Patullo getting replaced with Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator, Jeff Stoutland leaving the franchise after 13 seasons, and Vic Fangio nearly retiring. There are so many more storylines that need to play out, with Brown potentially being traded and fans waiting on retirement decisions from Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson.

The 2024 season was special for the Eagles. Philly fans couldn't have asked for anything better, but a stress-filled 2025 season ruined all the fun of being defending champions. With the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror, the Eagles must now focus on moving on from winning it all in 2024 and getting this franchise back on track.
