With the 53-man roster and practice squad all finalized, the Philadelphia Eagles have everything set for the 2026 season.
There might be some interesting players on each roster who could quietly make an impact on the roster. It may not happen this season, but the future looks bright for some of them.
Eagles fans already know practice squad players like Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru, young, talented defensive players. A new practice squad player might have people's attention.
Eagles might have something with edge rusher Mason Reiger
Reiger was the first new player to be added to the practice squad, as he had a tryout with the Eagles before signing. Although he wasn't selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, he signed with the Miami Dolphins. He had a solid preseason in Miami, racking up two tackles and one sack before being waived.
During his college days, Reiger played at Louisville from 2020 through 2024 before transferring to Wisconsin for his final season. Last year, he racked up 33 tackles, six tackles for loss, five sacks, and one pass deflection in 12 games.
According to Pro Football Focus, Reiger had 45 pressures, 32 hurries, and seven hits in 292 pass-rush snaps. PFF gave him an overall grade of 82.4, ranking 61st out of 854 edge rushers in the nation. He also had a pass-rush grade of 83.0 and a run-defense grade of 78.0.
The interesting situation with Reiger is how he fits into the Eagles' plans. In the preseason with Miami, he showed he can play at a high level, though he still needs some development.
Reiger is a good fit for Eagles defensive coordinator Fangio's defense and scheme. The versatility brought by Reiger makes it all the more intriguing, given what he can do off the edge for Philly.
In all likelihood, he was added because the Eagles don't want to put Weru on the field during the regular season for any reason at all. Reiger makes more sense to play since he's more experienced, but he'd still have to wait behind Keyshawn James-Newby in the pecking order for call-ups and would still be on the practice squad.

There is a lot of potential in Reiger that Eagles fans should be excited to see. He may not make an impact in 2026, but if he is brought back for 2027, he could be the next sleeper breakout player from training camp.
