Winning football games in the National Football League is challenging and cannot be taken for granted.

Despite subpar performance from Eagles franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts, the 2024 Super Bowl MVP managed to make some history during Week 17. With an ugly 13-12 win against the Buffalo Bills, Hurts managed to cement himself in NFL lore once more.

According to ESPN's research team, the 2025 Eagles are the first team since the 1987 New England Patriots to win multiple games without completing a second-half pass. They further add that Hurts is the first quarterback in the play-by-play era (since 1978) to go zero for seven or worse on pass attempts multiple games in a season as well.

Eagles make history despite Jalen Hurts struggling in second half of Bills game

While Hurts will surely give a short answer when asked about the recent offensive struggles, Eagles fans will once again revert to blaming offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and advocating for backup quarterback Tanner McKee to take control of the offense.

Hurts' 2025 season has been filled with plenty of ups and downs that remain consistent with the offensive output the Eagles have displayed this season. Hurts has seen his five-turnover performance against the Chargers call for his benching, as well as a zero-for-eight second-half performance against the Buccaneers in September, when the Eagles still won 31-25.

With the amount of pressure on Hurts to not only repeat as a Super Bowl champion but also "carry" the Eagles offense into their playoff run. Despite all the shortcomings, the Eagles and Hurts seem to be at a point in their relationship where they are ride-or-die. Hurts and the Eagles are locked in for another three years together and $150 million, making it clear that Philadelphia has plenty of trust in their quarterback despite what fans think.
