The city of Philadelphia has been holding its breath for a day after seeing its star quarterback, Jalen Hurts, appear to have suffered some lower-body injury in the 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15 action.
On his second-to-last play before getting pulled in the fourth quarter, Hurts was tackled awkwardly and seemed to have done something to his ankle or some part of his lower body. He ended by throwing a 27-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown on the next play before Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni pulled the starters.
Sirianni was the first to address Hurts' "injury" and called it "speculation." The man himself, Hurts, answered the question next in his press conference and only needed three words to respond to it.
“No, I’m fine.”
Hurts cleared that up pretty quickly, and everyone can breathe now
The Eagles' first Week 16 injury report also cleared that up, as Hurts was not included on it. That's a good sign that he is okay and is in line to play against the Washington Commanders on a short week.
Hurts' last month has been a roller coaster after the first five games. After the bye week, it was a struggle for him as the team went 2-3, and he had eight turnovers in that span. Many were starting to question whether he should be the starter with all the reports about him.
Against the Raiders, Hurts put those criticisms to silence as he completed 12 of 15 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 39 yards in the victory.
While things might not be back to normal, Hurts has successfully gotten the media and the fan base off his back so he can get back to playing quarterback. He's got three games left against the Commanders twice in three weeks and the Buffalo Bills sandwiched in between those Washington games.

The Eagles only need one more win for the division and will need to win out with some help for any hope of capturing the top seed in the NFC conference. Hurts was able to stop the bleeding for one week, but the Birds need him to keep putting on the Superman suit to help them finish the job and try to win another Super Bowl.
