This offseason is so different for the Philadelphia Eagles than it has been in the past.
Sure, the 2024 offseason had its fair share of questions, but getting Saquon Barkley and hiring Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio really turned it around, giving Eagles fans hope. The 2026 offseason doesn't quite have the same feel, with hope already lost at offensive coordinator and A.J. Brown most likely having one foot out the door.
Even with all that, the Eagles have to focus on one thing to ensure they can truly get back on track after an 11-6 season and an early postseason exit. ESPN shared what they think the Eagles' number one priority is this offseason.
"Get the offense pointed in a better direction. The Eagles have the highest-salaried offense in football, but the unit was still average or below average for most of the season. The Eagles will need to examine everything from coaching to personnel to avoid a repeat showing in 2026."
Eagles must fix the offense during the 2026 offseason
Kevin Patullo was the Eagles' offensive coordinator in 2025 before being removed after just one season. The numbers will say why he lost that job:
- 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game)
- 23rd in passing (194.3 yards per game)
- 18th in rushing (116.9 yards per game)
- 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game)
Now they must find the right man to take over the offense and turn it around the way Moore did in the 2024 season. So far, that search has not gone well, but there is still hope that the perfect candidate will land the job.
The next big thing will be finding out the future of two of its stars. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown asked to be traded multiple times during the season, but will he believe in the offense enough to return in 2026? Future Hall of Fame right tackle Lane Johnson had a bad foot injury that made him miss the last eight games of the season, and he must decide whether he will play another season or retire from football.
One final piece to the offense is getting some younger, cheaper talent on the roster. The focus will be on tight end and wide receiver, as Dallas Goedert will be testing free agency, and even if Brown stays, the departure of Jahan Dotson leaves a hole at WR3 that needs to be filled.

This is not going to be an easy offseason for the Eagles, but getting the offense right must be the team's only priority at this point.
