Troy Aikman's take on Nick Sirianni is exactly what Eagles fans are clinging to

The Philadelphia Eagles have been in a major funk in the last few months. While most of the rancor has been directed at offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, head coach Nick Sirianni hasn't been able to completely escape some of the anger this fanbase has directed towards this team.

The notoriously combustible Eagles fanbase is once again taking out their ire on Sirianni after another late-season fall-off. However, when zoomed out and viewed from a wide angle, fans may see that Sirianni is one of a select few coaches in the league who have won at the level he has at this point in his career.

Even as the Eagles were putting together yet another stinker of a first half on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers, Troy Aikman made sure to remind disgruntled Eagles fans that they have a coach with a sparkling resume that other franchises can only dream of.

"It always seems like there are conversations about [Nick] Sirianni and what his future might be," Aikman said on the live broadcast. "I can't even put my head around that and what he's accomplished. Been to the playoffs every year that he's been the head coach, been to two Super Bowls, won one. I'd put his resume up after four years against anybody in the history of the game."

Sirianni came into this game with a 56-22 record, two NFC titles, and a ring. That resume would be good enough to make him the best head coach in franchise history for almost half of the teams in the NFL.

Sirianni's big flaw, however, is that he is overly dependent on who he hires as his coordinators. He struck gold with names like Shane Steichen, Kellen Moore, and Vic Fangio, while misses like Brian Johnson, Kevin Patullo, and Sean Desai have held this team back.

A coach can luck into a hot season that involves a deep playoff run. When you're making the playoffs every single year, even with one of the best rosters in the league, that's a sign that the Eagles have someone in charge who can consistently put this team in a position to make an earnest push.

As frustrating as it can be to watch this Patullo-led offense struggle to get much going, the best course of action would be to start over with a new coordinator, rather than get rid of the coach who has proven to be capable of guiding this roster to a Super Bowl.
