The Philadelphia Eagles are putting all of their focus into the final stretch of the regular season and the playoffs after clinching a spot in the postseason in Week 16. The draft may be at the back of their minds, but as general manager, Howie Roseman knows franchises stay at the top of the league by consistently drafting well.
So, even as the NFL regular season hits crunch time, fans should keep an eye on the College Football Playoff. Those already paying attention would have seen Oklahoma wide receiver Deion Burks put on a show against Alabama.
Burks had one of the best games of his collegiate career, forcing the Eagles to take notice of his talent.
Oklahoma WR Deion Burks just showed Eagles why they should draft him
The Sooners may have lost their CFP matchup with the Crimson Tide, but Burks emerged as a clear winner. He finished the day with seven catches for 107 yards and a touchdown, leading all players on both teams in receiving yards.
The young receiver made multiple highlight-worthy plays throughout the game, but his most significant moment of the day came on a 37-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter. He caught the pass over the middle of the field before exploding to the end zone, outpacing Alabama's defenders in the process.
Against one of the most talented defenses in the country, Burks was the engine of his offense. While his production this season has been inconsistent, his performance in the biggest game of the year speaks for itself.
Many scouts currently view Burks as a late-round prospect, mainly because of his size and inconsistent usage. At just 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, he doesn't fit the mold of a typical NFL wideout. But his explosiveness and subtle route-running ability make him an intriguing prospect. He may not be ready to be a primary receiver in the league yet, but he could certainly make an immediate impact.
The Eagles aren't desperate for a receiver at the moment. A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith make up one of the best pass-catching duos in football. Still, adding a third threat to the group would force defenses to account for the pass more often, opening up the offense and potentially benefiting the running game.

If Philadelphia can scoop up Burks in the middle rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft, they should strongly consider it.
