The Philadelphia Eagles got the job job. NFC East title is theirs with plenty more than can be achieved.
The Eagles' Week 16 29-18 win over the Washington Commanders was the most important thing for the Birds to make sure they could even get into the playoffs. That win locked in the NFC East for them for the second straight season, the first team in the division to do that in 21 years.
Now comes the tricky part. Philly can still get the number two seed and the number one seed, but they'll need a lot of help to reach that destination.
Updated NFC playoff picture entering backhalf of Week 16
Earlier in the week, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams 38-37 in overtime. Seattle moved to 12-3 on the season while the Rams are 11-4. The result did not affect the Eagles, as Philly needs both teams to finish the season at 11-6 or 12-5 to take the top spot in the NFC.
One result that hurt the Eagles, though, was the Chicago Bears' stunning comeback win over the Green Bay Packers 22-16 in overtime. The Bears are now 11-4, and the Packers are 9-5-1. Green Bay is officially out of the running for the number one seed. Still, Chicago must lose both of their remaining games this season against the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions, or the Eagles are out of contention for the number one seed, as the Bears own the tiebreaker over Philly from the Black Friday game.
Here is what the NFC playoff picture looks like entering the final stretch of games in Week 16:
1. Seattle Seahawks (12-3)
2. Chicago Bears (11-4)
3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-5)
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-7)
5. Los Angeles Rams (11-4)
6. San Francisco 49ers (10-4)
7. Green Bay Packers (9-5-1)
The Eagles still need help making sure the Seahawks, Rams, and 49ers each finish the season at least 12-5. Chicago must not lose out and only finish 11-6 for any chance at the number one seed or number two seed.

For now, Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills is a meaningful game for the Eagles, and they must win if they want any shot at getting a bye week. The hope might be slim, but now that Philly is in the dance, it's time to see how much better of seeding they can get.
