Role players seldom steal the major headlines, if any at all. But when it comes to the unsung players within the Philadelphia Eagles organization, those doing the dirty work to help ensure a consistently high level of team success, their work is well worth celebrating.
Recently recognized for having one of the most complete rosters in the NFL, there are many members of the roster who could be highlighted here. And while the collective talent level of the Philadelphia Eagles roster ranks it among the very best in the NFL, it's worth diving into the impact each of these unsung Eagles players has made.
Here are three players who stand out for their strong 2025 contributions, with each set to fill an integral role once again in 2026.
Three underrated Eagles to watch out for in 2026
Fred Johnson, OT
In a league where brute force, physicality, and yes, injuries are all-too commonplace, having battle-tested depth along the offensive line is essential. In several instances last season, Johnson was called into action, and he answered the call repeatedly. While aptly filling in at tackle for the injured Lane Johnson, the undrafted journeyman served as an invaluable sixth man of sorts in the trenches.
A highlight included the thrilling 33-26 Week 3 win over the Rams, as Johnson subbed into that affair and held the fort down amid a fierce Rams pass rush to keep the offense humming along. Johnson also provides a steady veteran voice amongst the younger backup linemen, and his return on a one-year deal keeps the Eagles' most trusted and experienced reserve lineman in the nest.
Marcus Epps, S
While speculation has run rampant on whether or not the Eagles have enough talent at the safety position, Epps continues to buckle up and quietly ply his craft. Last season, the veteran stepped in after rookie Andrew Mukuba and formed a reliable, hard-hitting duo with the since-departed Reed Blankenship.
Dropping the hammer in run support remains his calling card, with his electric Week 17 effort in Buffalo (nine tackles and one tackle for loss) showing the impact his fearless physicality can have. Now entering his eighth season, Epps is on a mission to shun the non-believers and show he can thrive as a full-time starter in this secondary.
Moro Ojomo, DT
The third-year defensive tackle out of Stanford might be the most unsung Eagles player given his vast contributions this past season, but as he embarks on his contract season, Ojomo is about to change that narrative in a major way.

Philadelphia's best-kept secret churned out six sacks while applying consistent heat within opposing backfields, notching 49 pressures and 39 hurries in 2025. While former first-rounders Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis have stolen so much of the thunder, the fast-rising Ojomo has brought lightning to an imposing defensive line. In due time, the former seventh-round selection will be handsomely rewarded, if not by Philadelphia, then happily by another franchise.
