We've seen enough of Tanner McKee attempting to be Eagles' starting QB

We are good. Thanks, though.

It's been three games since Tanner McKee took over as the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback, and let's be honest, this isn't working. At all.

Jalen Hurts is out for the season with his blood clots and is currently on it. That moved the Mormon Missile into the starting lineup, and for three games in a row, Eagles fans are still waiting to see that missile hit its target instead of missing time and time again.

Things seemed to be progressing for McKee in the Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, thanks to his touchdown pass. Week 8 against the Washington Commanders, though, was just a brutal reminder that, yeah, he's a backup for a reason, and fans don't need to see any more from him for the rest of the 2026 season.

Tanner McKee puts up another subpar performance as the Eagles' starting QB in Week 8

Let's take a look at the box score: McKee completed 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards and one interception. He also had four carries for 25 yards in the loss. Oh, and let's not forget his fumble.

To be fair to McKee, the Commanders' defensive front pressured him all night with stunts and blitzes the Eagles' offensive line couldn't handle. McKee got sacked five times, was pressured 24 times, and was hit eight times, so there was no protection for him.

This was another game where McKee did not have his top two wide receivers, DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks. Smith missed a fourth game with a hamstring injury, while Wicks was out with an ankle injury.

Even with all of that, it came down to misfires on passes and indecision about who to throw it to. On average, it took him 2.87 seconds per pass. He's got to get the ball off faster than that.

Eagles really need to take a look at another quarterback after three straight losses

Since McKee became the starting quarterback, the Eagles' offense has been significantly worse at scoring. They are only averaging 15 points per game, so the offense is doing nothing with McKee in the lineup.

In his three starts, McKee has completed 63.2% of his passes for 638 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He is 0-3 as the Eagles' starter, losing by double digits each game.

Eagles fans can appreciate the effort McKee has put into these starts, as he has protected the football better than anyone could have expected from a backup. With the team being 2-6, though, it's time for a change at quarterback.

There is very, very, very little hope that the Eagles can salvage this season, and it's clearly not working with McKee. Why not trot Joe Milton out on the field and give him a shot to start and play?

Milton has a rocket arm and can deliver the explosive plays the Eagles desperately need through the air. He has a career completion percentage of 69.8%, for 424 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions. Milton has added 66 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown.

Right now, the Eagles just need to throw something at the wall at quarterback and see what sticks. Giving Milton a shot here couldn't possibly make the season worse than it already is. Right?
