Well, that didn't take very long. Zach Ertz is indeed coming back to the Philadelphia Eagles, and fans couldn't be more excited.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Ertz is returning to the Eagles on their practice squad to start. Ertz spent the last two years with the Washington Commanders, and he's returning from an ACL injury he suffered late last season.

Ertz was a former second-round pick of the Eagles in 2013 and put together over eight seasons of strong play. He made the Pro Bowl three times and won a Super Bowl with Philly. In 123 career games with the Eagles, Ertz caught 579 passes for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns.

Ertz's signing comes at the right time, as Dallas Goedert sprained his MCL and was recently reported that he would miss some time. The Eagles have yet to place Goedert on IR, as he could return before then.
Currently on the active roster, the Eagles have E.J. Jenkins and Johnny Mundt. Ertz is expected to get promoted to the 53-man roster before their Monday night game against the Chicago Bears.
Philly now has a true versatile weapon that can help the offense out. Ertz is a great receiver, as he is just 11 catches away from passing Harold Carmichael on the all-time Eagles list for receptions in a career. The Eagles also have a weapon in the run game with Ertz's underrated ability to block.
This is a perfect move for the Eagles to fix their offensive issues and bring in a new weapon. Ertz's familiarity with Jalen Hurts should also help the offense for the time being, as Ertz can fill in for Goedert and then figure it out from there.
Philly will be even more dangerous in the tight end room when Goedert, Ertz, and Mundt are all together. The trio will make up one of the better tight end rooms in the NFL.
One interesting aspect is what happens with rookie second round pick Eli Stowers when he is off the IR with his lower leg injury. Stowers most likely will be inactive for most games, as the Eagles don't want to have four tight ends active on gameday.

There are so much other questions that can't be answered yet, but Eagles fans are just excited to have a franchise legend back and ready to play.
