25. San Diego Chargers
Darqueze Dennard
Cornerback, Michigan State

Previously: Jason Verrett (Cornerback, TCU)

Giorgos:

Darqueze Dennard is a great option for the San Diego Chargers, who need a cornerback more than anything. A player who is not afraid of contact, Dennard is a natural fit in man coverage due to his physicality. He has adequate strength and good speed and he is willing to help in run defense. Not a great fit in zone coverage, but he can improve there with practice and a good coach.

Dave:

Darqueze Dennard should, and could, likely go much higher than 25th when the first round is all said and done, but if he’s still around in May like he is here the Chargers would be foolish to pass on him here. Despite needs at defensive line, the Chargers could benefit just as much from adding another talented piece to a secondary that’s not too intimidating outside of Eric Weddle.
