Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles takes a lot of heat. Eagles fans are known for being a bit harsh at times, but sometimes they need to take a step back and relax. We all knew that Foles would not have a season like he did last year, but with a few rough games many Eagles fans are questioning if he is the franchise quarterback the Eagles need.
Lets look at some quarterback numbers:
Who are these quarterbacks?
[table id=54 /]
Answers:
QB-A — Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts quarterback
QB-B — Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback
QB-C — Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks quarterback
QB-D — Tom Brady, New England Patriots quarterback
QB-E — Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts quarterback (for these numbers)
Shocked?!? This table shows the statistics of each quarterback during their first 27 NFL games. Take a long look at this list. It features multiple Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, arguably the best quarterback that will ever play and some of the best young quarterback talent in the National Football League. This chart shows how Nick Foles ranks against some great competition during his first 27 games.
Eagles fans and media alike need to slow down and not jump to conclusions so quickly. As I said before, we already knew that he wouldn’t have another 27 touchdown with 2 interception year, its nearly impossible. So why all the criticism? Things are not that bad. Nick Foles and this Eagles team as a whole are not producing to their full capabilities, but the still boast a 5-2 record.

Stop with the criticism, stop with the calls for Mark Sanchez and for the love of all things football please stop acting like Nick Foles is the worst thing that has happened in Philadelphia. Am I saying that Nick Foles is the next Peyton Manning, probably not, but what I am saying is that he deserves a chance to play. Don’t forget this Eagles team is just a few seasons removed from going 4-12. Nick Foles deserves some credit for helping turn this team around.
Nick Foles has some areas to improve on this season, there is no denying that, but the Eagles have had issues on offense and defense. Both sides of the football have been responsible for some of the ugly play this season. With offensive line issues all season, the Eagles are still ranked 6th in the NFL in passing. In both losses this season the Eagles still had a chance to win. They have a combined loss total of 9 points, it’s not like the Eagles were blown out.
This offense features a passing attack that hasn’t hit their max yet. Jeremy Maclin is having his best season as an Eagle and his comfort level with Foles is still growing, they should improve as the season goes on. Zach Ertz is getting better and Foles is starting to trust him more. The weapons are there, don’t discount what Nick Foles is doing just because he has 9 interceptions this season.
Every quarterback seems to go through struggles earlier in their career, its part of the natural progression of an NFL quarterback. Stand behind Nick Foles, he deserves a chance to play through some troubles, he deserves better from Eagles fans.
