11) Looking ahead and counting victories

Everyone else is guessing who the Eagles will draft in a few months, and we’ll get there soon enough. The often imitated but never equaled “Mock Draft Roundup” will return in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, here’s a way-too-early look at how many games the Eagles will win next season. According to their list of opponents (no schedule yet), I see five guaranteed home wins – Buffalo, Miami, New York Giants, Tampa Bay, Washington. I also see four guaranteed road wins – Atlanta, Carolina, New York Jets and Washington.

That’s nine wins and not a bad start, leaving home games against Arizona, Dallas and New Orleans, and road games against Dallas, Detroit, New England and the Giants.

I think they get wins against Dallas and Arizona at home and the Giants on the road. That gives the Eagles a 12-4 record.

Unfortunately, they’ll miss the playoffs because everyone else in the NFC will go 13-3, with the exception of Atlanta, which will win the NFC South with a record of 2-12-2.
