5) Nick Marshall, QB, Auburn
The last sleeper Eagles fans should keep a close eye on at the combine is Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall. Wait…didn’t he switch to cornerback? Yeah, that’s what we all thought too. But for some reason he’s listed as a quarterback on the official invite list of the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine.
So even though he was a successful quarterback at the collegiate level, Marshall made the right decision by switching to cornerback at the 2015 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Throughout the week of practice down in Mobile, Alabama, Marshall had his ups and downs at the position but his athleticism was undeniable.
You never know, Marshall could possibly fit in Chip Kelly’s offense at quarterback because of his running ability but his versatility and potential to play cornerback is what makes him an intriguing player to watch at the combine. Marshall should record an impressive time in the 40-yard dash and it remains to be seen if he will actually participate in defensive back drills as well.
Either way, adding such a versatile prospect later in the draft could be too intriguing for the Eagles to pass up on. Marshall, like the other prospects previously mentioned, are just a handful of the sleepers that the birds and their fans should watch for at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine.
