Eagles secondary vs. Matt Ryan
The Eagles invested a lot of resources in an attempt to sure up their secondary this offseason, because they had to. They ranked 31st in the league in passing yards per game, only ahead of the Falcons. However that unit still has question marks. The teams best option at corner, Byron Maxwell looks to be the real deal but it’s not certain he is. The teams #2 corner Nolan Carroll still has to prove he can be a good corner in this league and the nickel corner spot is up for grabs. Corner-turned-safety Walter Thurmond is a question as well but impressed this preseason with his playmaking ability.
On the flip side Matt Ryan, with one of the league best passing attacks, looks to take advantage of those question marks. Despite Roddy White’s injury questions the Falcons still have a major weapon in Julio Jones and good complimentary options in Leonard Hankerson and rookie Justin Hardy. If Matt Ryan can’t get all his options involved early with a potentially healthy Roddy White the Eagles secondary could be in trouble. Look for them to be tested early and often.
Advantage: Matt Ryan
