Byron Maxwell, Cornerback

When the Philadelphia Eagles gave corner Byron Maxwell a 6 year, $63 million dollar contract, many were skeptical. Maxwell was a number two corner his entire career in Seattle, playing with the likes of Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas. In Philadelphia, Maxwell would have to be the number 1 guy and the leader. The season started really rough for Maxwell who gave up 9 catches, 141 yards and 2 touchdowns to  receiver Julio Jones week 1. Maxwell was constantly getting torched. I almost thought that Bradley Fletcher was still on the team.

Like Sam Bradford, Byron has gotten better each week, but it is still concerning to see your 63 million dollar corner getting roasted. If you’re going to pay someone that much money, you should expect them to produce even from the get go. Maxwell doesn’t have the help like he did in Seattle, it is time for Maxwell to start showing more as the season progresses.
