Round 7 (Pick 233): Jalen Mills S, LSU

Original Pick: Mills

This was my favorite pick by the Eagles from a value standpoint. They got a possible starting safety/cornerback on the talent level of Alabama’s Cyrus Jones who went in the second round to the Patriots in the seventh because of off field concerns. This is a risk former head coach Chip Kelly would not have taken and the risk will pay off.

Round 7 (Pick 240): Charone Peake WR, Clemson

Original Pick: Alex McCallister DE, Florida

Peake showed flashes of a top wide receiver in college and is coming from a line of successful Clemson receivers. He should have been the pick here and would have certainly made the opening day roster as a change of pace receiver who can play in the slot or go deep.

Round 7 (Pick 251): Jeremy Cash S, Duke

Original Pick: Joe Walker LB, Oregon

Walker was a fine pick considering it was strictly for special teams, but Cash also would make an impact there. In addition Cash was once considered a second rounder and fell because his skill set is that of a box cornerback in an era where they are becoming obsolete. However, he has a ton of talent and could have played for the Eagles as depth at safety and linebacker in the mold of Arizona Cardinals linebacker Deone Bucannon.
