Fullback

  1. Trey Burton
  2. Chris Pantale

This position is a complete mystery.

For the first time since 2012, the Eagles will feature a fullback regularly in their offense. Who that player will be, however, is anyone’s guess.

Trey Burton, who has played tight end for the Eagles since being drafted in 2014, is the likely candidate to receive most of the reps at fullback. Burton has experience playing fullback dating back to his college days at Florida and would likely make the transition rather smoothly if that is what Doug Pederson expects from him.

However, he won’t do it without any competition. The Eagles signed Chris Pantale to their practice squad in September and have been lining him up as a fullback extensively this offseason. Like Burton, Pantale played fullback during his collegiate career at Boston College.

Burton’s versatility is what will likely win him the job, but it would be unwise to count out Pantale immediately, even though he may have an uphill battle making the roster.
