Eagles: 5 Possible targets at running back in 2018’s NFL Draft
4. Derrius Guice, LSU Tigers
We’ve grown quite accustomed to seeing the LSU Tigers reload over and over again at the running back position. Following Leonard Fournette’s departure, you can expect the transition to be a fairly simple one as Derrius Guice is set to slide into the starting role.
Last season, the aforementioned Fournette saw some of his on-field time diminish as he was limited by a nagging ankle injury. Guice had no issues sliding into the spotlight. The pressure didn’t seem to affect him at all as newfound expectations, popularity and playing time resulted in a season that yielded 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Guice is at the top of the depth chart now. Playing at one of college football’s premier programs certainly won’t lessen his chances at playing at the next level. With new head coach Ed Orgeron at the helm, the expectation is the Tigers will open up the offensive playbook. That will give Guice plenty of touches and opportunities.
Expect to hear a lot from him this season.
