The synopsis:

Guice brings so many skills to the table, it’s hard not to be excited about his potential. He runs with great strength and balance, and he uses his speed to accelerate past less athletic defenders for big gains.

Some of the other backs in this class don’t have the same ability Guice has. He has a determined running style and relentless technique. He should be able to translate his knack for breaking tackles to the NFL and should be able to pick up plenty of yards after contact.

There are some hindrances:

  • Limited experience
  • LSU’s offensive line

Guice did very well in spelling Fournette during the 2016 season. He put on a show as a starting running back for the Tigers, but he doesn’t have the experience of a Saquon Barkley. If Guice can put together a strong 2017 season as the starting running back at LSU, he will alleviate concerns about his inexperience and place himself firmly among the ranks of the top backs available for the 2018 NFL Draft.

LSU’s offensive line is one that he, certainly, can benefit from. LSU boasted one of the best all-around offensive lines in 2016, and when you watch the tape, it’s obvious to see how dominant this group is. As proof of their dominance, former LSU center Ethan Pocic went 58th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft to the Seattle Seahawks, and former LSU guard Josh Boutte was picked up as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns. All eyes will be on him to see how much of his success was a byproduct of an elite offensive line.
