An in depth look into Zach Ertz’s year-by-year progression
The 2015 Season:
In 2015, Ertz was placed above Celek on the depth chart. Most expected his numbers to improve, and they did just that. Ertz played in 15 games. He had 75 receptions on 112 targets for 853 yards, and two touchdowns. That averages out to about 7.4 targets, 5 receptions and 56.8 yards per game.
His best games came in December during a three-week stretch. The first came against the Arizona Cardinals (if only he could play them every week). He had eight receptions on 13 targets, good for 78 yards and one touchdowns. The second game came the following week versus the Redskins (again). He was targeted 17 times. He had 13 receptions, good for 122 yards. The third game was against the New York Giants. In that one, he caught all nine passes that were thrown in his direction. When the game ended he had amassed 152 yards. At the close of the 2015 season, the hope was, again, that Ertz would take the next step the following season.
