Carson Wentz, QB

We saved the most important one for last. Although Carson Wentz showed promise in his rookie season, it wasn’t as good as people thought it was. Sure, we saw plenty of plays that proved he could potentially be a star, but his final numbers after 16 games were not that pretty. Wentz ended the season with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Obviously the help around him was not ideal for a rookie, but he knew he had plenty of things he had to improve on himself.

As we are patiently waiting for week 11 to approach, Wentz is currently sitting on top of the NFL with an 8-1 record as a top-five passing leader with the most touchdown passes in the entire league. In fact, if the season were to end today, Wentz would be the most valuable player, no question about it.

Obviously, there is still plenty of football to be played. But Wentz knows he cannot spiral downward like he did early on last season. As the second-year signal caller continues to ball out, he knows he has to take it one game at a time.

Next: Why isn’t anyone discussing the Saints?

We can’t let his progression and dominance go unnoticed, though. After all, he finished the month of October with 14 touchdowns and was crowned the NFC Offensive Player of the Month. He followed up that performance with an impressive 51-23 victory with four touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the league.
