Fletcher Cox, DT

Fletcher Cox has one specifically important job for Saturday. That is making Matt Ryan’s day a miserable nightmare. On paper, everybody knows that the Eagles defensive front is good enough to make the battle in the trenches a mismatch. All season long the Eagles defensive line has been tough to contain.

Teams that don’t really have mobile-friendly quarterbacks tend to struggle big time against the Eagles. That is not to say that Ryan can’t scramble at all, but it also doesn’t mean that he will be able to escape with ease. Cox is a man on a mission this week and it is evident. The veteran tackle made it real clear that he wanted no breaks during the time of the bye.

In fact, Cox was one of the veterans to approach Pederson to consider holding a full contact practice. If that doesn’t assure you that he is motivated to have a big game then I don’t know what will. If there is one part of the team that could instill confidence in the Eagles, it would be the defensive line. When Cox becomes the force up front that we know he can be, the Falcons offense will be in for a long day.
