Jalen Mills, CB
The pressure is on for Jalen Mills this week. All week he has been bombarded with questions about a matchup against Julio Jones and what not. Although he has been vocally confident in facing one of the best receivers in the league, it is time to see if he can truly duke it out with him on gameday when it matters most.
Last season, Julio was held without a touchdown. But he still managed to have a big day in the passing game. Fortunately, the Eagles defense was able to hold up and secure the victory. The unfortunate thing about this week is the fact that the Eagles secondary has been exposed at times.
During the second half of the season, Mills and his fellow cornerback, Ronald Darby have struggled big time on double-moves. Considering Julio Jones is a dominant veteran, he could hitting Mills with the Sluggo routes and double moves all day. We expect Jim Schwartz to issue Mills with some help in the secondary, but a one-on-one matchup could be very problematic.
This is the week that Mills needs to put an end to any negative factors going against him. We have seen him have games where he looks like a true number one corner. And we have seen him have games where he look’s like just another struggling player in the secondary. This is the time for the kid to step up and show the NFL what he is made of.
