It’s always fun when the Philadelphia Eagles make the Dallas Cowboys look silly.

Times are wonderful in the city of Philadelphia. For the first time ever, the Philadelphia Eagles brought home the Vince Lombardi trophy. And for the first time ever, Eagles fans will be confident to answer that question that they have been taunted with for decades: How many rings do you guys have?

You know, recent success never seemed to matter in the new era of the NFC East. We would always hear about almighty America’s Team from the nineties from Dallas fans, but the team never seemed to find that success in over 20 years. The 2016 Dallas Cowboys finished with a 13-3 season, winning the NFC East and clinching a first-round bye. But the team that looked like it would go deep in the playoffs ended right then and there in the divisional round.

So, maybe they couldn’t take home the Lombardi in 2016. But Eagles fans heard that the future was bright and 2017 was their year. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott would puff his chest out and say “We’re the Cowboys and we will win the NFC East”. Five months later, Prescott would eat his words as the Eagles convincingly won the division and the entire conference.

Prescott’s light jab at the Eagles, Washington Redskins, and New York Giants did not end back in July, though. During Super Bowl LII week, Prescott took the red carpet during the NFL Honors night and made a statement that would get shot down less than 24 hours later. He told 6 ABC’s Jamie Apoody that if anyone in the NFC East was winning the Super Bowl, it’s going to be the Dallas Cowboys. Hysterical.

Times are tough in Jerry World.

Prescott isn’t the only one that would be eating his words last Sunday night. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a tough time watching Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles win the Pete Rozelle Trophy. 24/7 Sports reported that Jones was proud to pass up on signing the 2017 Super Bowl MVP. Not only that, but he had to watch the Eagles take home the Lombardi for the first time in the same season where he expected his team to do so.

He wasn’t shy in letting the football world know how he felt following the big game less than a week ago.

"“The muffled voice you have been hearing is me screaming in my pillow over not being here and seeing Philadelphia,” Jones said."

The Eagles are underdogs no more and have plans to continue to eat in 2018. Since the end of Super Bowl LII, the Eagles have the second-best odds to win Super Bowl LIII right now according to Sports Book Review. So in 2018, the Eagles will be the team to beat in the NFC East, not the Dallas Cowboys. Better luck next year, Dak.
