Michael Bennett, DE

Traded from the Seattle Seahawks

The trade to get Michael Bennett from the Seattle Seahawks was just another example of Howie’s wheel-and-deal magic. The Eagles sent wide receiver Marcus Johnson and a fifth-round pick to the Seahawks for Bennett and a seventh-round pick.

Talk about a steal. Not only did the Eagles get a successful and proven defensive end, but they upgraded their already dominant defensive line. In comparison to the Eagles other pass rushers, Bennett is actually the most successful in past seasons.

Let’s take a look at his 2017 numbers for example. Bennett finished out last season with 8.5 sacks. When you combine Vinny Curry and Derek Barnett’s sacks for the previous season, Bennett still has a half a sack more than the two of them combined. Assuming that Curry will be gone any day now, the combination of Barnett and Bennett becomes absolutely lethal to offensive lines.
