Mike Wallace: The Deep Threat

Mike Wallace became the newest member of the Eagles on Thursday night after he inked a one-year deal with the team. The 31-year-old speedster just wrapped up his second and final season with the Baltimore Ravens. He piled up 748 yards, along with four touchdowns. Not exactly the most impressive stats to look at, but understand that the Eagles are getting a bargain right here.

Last season, the Eagles used Torrey Smith as their deep threat to stretch the field. Although he brought some great personality to the locker room and had clutch moments in the playoffs, Smith did not live up to the Philly expectations.

The fact that the Eagles snatched up Wallace as a cheaper and more improved investment just makes Howie Roseman look like a free agency guru once again. Wallace won’t be expected to come to the Eagles and ultimately take over.

His purpose will be to stretch the field and make big plays down the field when he gets separation. He didn’t necessarily struggle to do it in the past, so there is no doubt in our minds about Wallace’s ability to contribute to the offense immediately in 2018.
