Sidney Jones, CB

The second-year cornerback Sidney Jones had a tough road to his NFL debut. The former second-round pick spent almost his entire rookie season nursing a ruptured Achilles. It wasn’t until Week 17 in 2017 when Jones took the field for the first time. Considering the meaningless battle against the Dallas Cowboys was quite underwhelming, Jones didn’t exactly have a dominant game.

This season will be a different story for the young defensive back. Jones’ redshirt season was spent learning on the sidelines and becoming a game film junkie. Although he doesn’t have a ton of physical experience in the pro’s, his knowledge already has him ahead of the game. And if we are honest, Jones may very well end up being the best cornerback in midnight green by the time September rolls around.

To make a long story short, Jones has been excellent at OTAs. He has multiple interceptions and is very rarely called out for mistakes. Jim Schwartz rotated the cornerbacks in and out of the nickel during the second week, but Jones had the position on lock last week. But no matter where he is placed, he seems to be coming up with some nice plays. At this point, it isn’t a question of if Sidney Jones starts this season. It’s a question of where is Jones going to start this season.
