Nick Foles, QB

Eagles franchise quarterback Carson Wentz couldn’t get cleared for this weeks game. So, just like they have for the remainder of the Super Bowl run, the Eagles will roll with the MVP, Nick Foles. You would think after watching this guy put up historical playoff numbers, everybody would be extremely confident in Foles. Well, that’s not necessarily the case right now.

Foles had an ugly preseason, to say the least. He held on to the ball way too long. He made some very questionable decisions, and he had poor execution throughout the entire offseason. Basically, Foles came back down to earth. So yes, there are reasons to be concerned as we know how bad Foles can really be. But before writing him off as a dud for week one, understand that the Eagles will be game planning once again.

Nick Foles is not like Wentz. He likes to get into a rhythm with tons of play action, and quick throws. Unlike Wentz, who wants to go out there and improvise, making decisions on the fly. So we all know Foles isn’t as advanced as Wentz, but we do know that Doug Pederson knows precisely what to call when Foles is under center.

It’s quite simple, if the Eagles see regular season Foles on Thursday, then count on the game being in the defense’s hands. If the Eagles see playoff Foles, then Atlanta is going to need to play their best game on Thursday if they even want a chance to win.
