5 Philadelphia Eagles that are key to a victory against the Atlanta Falcons
Jason Peters, LT
The Bodyguard is back! Jason Peters returns to the field for the first time since week seven of last year. The 36-year-old offensive tackle is working on a comeback season after possibly considering retirement last year. We all know that Peters struggled to watch the Eagles win the Super Bowl without him. Now, we can only expect that Peters has one thing on his mind. Repeating.
Even though Peters is a seasoned veteran, week one is a significant test for him. Nobody truly knows if he can come back and give one-hundred percent through sixteen games, and a playoff run without breaking down. Coming back from a torn ACL and MCL is hard enough when you’re young. But imagine being 36 and playing one of the toughest positions in football with that recent injury history in your background.
As much as the Eagles will rely on Foles, the quarterback will surely be relying on the left side of his line. The protection in the preseason was less than ideal, and it could’ve been a major reason why Foles looked so shaky at times. Peters needs to get back to his status of being a Pro Bowl caliber lineman to keep the Eagles backfield protected at all times on Thursday.
