Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Players that are key to a victory over Carolina Panthers
Jason Peters, OT
This year, it’s been tough to watch veteran left tackle, Jason Peters. After returning from a significant knee injury at the age of 35-years-old, nobody knew what to expect. We watched the offseason workout videos and got overly excited about Peters’ return. Before he went down, he might’ve been the best left tackle in football. Now, he’s just a guy, and it’s been tough to watch.
To make matters worse for this week, Peters has been diagnosed with torn biceps. Although he will suit up and play this week, how long will it really last? Each week this season has been something new. There hasn’t been a single game yet where Peters hasn’t had to miss time due to some sort of injury or fatigue.
At this point, the Eagles need to see something positive from Peters. There are too many changes on the fly up front, and this can’t happen every single week moving forward. The Eagles need stability in their pass protection.
This week will be a big test for Peters, as we aren’t sure if we will ever see him get back to his elite play from last season. Although it’s doubtful that he can, even showing half of his 2017 performance could help the Eagles offense in a big way this week.
